Development of Industrial Engineering Program - ITB | |
---|---|
Time Period | Development |
1973-1979 | Early Industrial Engineering education had been focused on Production System. In this period the scope was expanded and courses related to systemic approach were introduced as elective courses. |
1979-1982 | In addition to the core Industrial Engineering courses, management contents were included in the curriculum. |
1982-1987 | Manufacturing System was introduced as an integrated learning model in the curriculum. |
1987-1993 | Elective courses were grouped into 7 areas: (i) Production System, (ii) Ergonomics, (iii) System Planning and Optimization, (iv) Industrial Management, (v) Techno-Economics, (vi) Industrial Development Strategy, and (vii) Transportation and Distribution. |
1993-1998 | Industrial Engineering education was focused on two concentrations: (i) Manufacturing System and (ii) Industrial Management. |
1998-2003 | Industrial Engineering education was focused on the development of competencies to design integrated systems (the definition of integrated system refers to IIE’s definition of Industrial Engineering). |
2003-2008 | Integration of bachelor, master, and doctoral programs as one linear stream. The curriculum development was based on trends on professional requirements and development of Industrial Engineering knowledge. |
2008-2013 | In addition to 2003-2008 curriculum, ABET criteria were applied as reference in the curriculum development. Laboratory experiments in the curriculum were further enhanced and integrated. |
2013-2018 | The main building of IE-ITB is renovated in order to enhance academic (education and research) activities. Larger available space can accommodate more classes, laboratory facilities, student halls, etc. |
