What is Industrial Engineering?

Curriculum Structure

Our comprehensive curriculum is designed to provide students with a solid foundation and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of Industrial Engineering. Here’s an overview of our curriculum: 

1st Year - Foundation:

In the first year, students will establish a strong base by focusing on fundamental subjects. This includes courses in basic science, which will lay the groundwork for scientific principles and concepts. Additionally, basic technology and art courses will provide a well-rounded education, enhancing critical thinking and communication skills. Students will also explore the principles of general engineering, developing a broad understanding of engineering disciplines. 

2nd Year - Basic Skill:

Building upon the foundation, the second year emphasizes the acquisition of essential skills. Students will delve into the fundamental methodologies used in Industrial Engineering. Students will learn about the core principles, tools, and techniques that form the backbone of the field. Through hands-on experiences and practical applications, students will develop a solid understanding of Industrial Engineering practices. 

3rd Year - Study Program:

In the third year, students will dive deeper into the study program, focusing on advanced subjects specific to Industrial Engineering. These courses will cover advanced topics in areas such as production planning, supply chain management, quality control, optimization, and operations research. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of Industrial Engineering, allowing them to analyze complex systems and identify opportunities for improvement. 

4th Year - Final:

The fourth and final year of our program is dedicated to the culmination of studentslearning journey. Students will engage in a capstone project, a culminating experience that integrates the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program. Working closely with faculty advisors, students will undertake an engineering design project, applying their expertise to solve real-world industrial challenges. This hands-on experience will enable them to showcase their problem-solving abilities, creativity, and teamwork skills. 

Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for a successful career in Industrial Engineering. Through a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and real-world applications, our graduates are well-equipped to make a significant impact in various industries 

Background of International Track

With a rich history dating back to 1971, Industrial Engineering at ITB (Institut Teknologi Bandung) holds the distinction of being the oldest and first ABET-accredited industrial engineering education institution in Indonesia. Over the years, we have consistently maintained high standards of education, producing exceptional graduates who have made significant contributions to the field of Industrial Engineering. 

Recognizing the evolving demands of the global engineering job market, we established the International Undergraduate Track Program in 2022. This program was specifically designed to ensure that our graduates remain competitive in an increasingly interconnected and globalized world. 

At our renowned Ganesha campus, the International Undergraduate Track Program offers the same exceptional quality of education as our regular classes. Students benefit from a rigorous curriculum, expert faculty, and state-of-the-art facilities that have established ITB as a leading institution in Indonesia. 

ITB International Track aims to provide each student with an academic experience of international quality. Since the curriculum is specifically designed to enable students to compete globally in various fields, all students must do a minimum of 1 semester of outbound exchange at their own expense to various ITB partner universities abroad.We believe that firsthand exposure to different cultures, perspectives, and engineering practices is crucial for students to develop a global mindset. Through international internships, collaborations, and academic exchanges, our students gain invaluable insights, broaden their horizons, and cultivate cross-cultural competencies that are highly valued in today’s engineering landscape.

Academic Requirements
  • Graduated from High School/equivalent, both from local or abroad schools, no longer than three years at the date of admission (e.g., 2023 Admission is for high school graduates of 2021, 2022, and 2023) 
  • Have high academic achievement during high school level/equivalent, as evidenced by the value of report cards/academic transcripts per semester, from semester 1 to semester 5 
  • Demonstrate a good command of English, as evidenced by: 
    • TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) certificate recognized by ets.org, with minimum score of 61, or 
    • IELTS certificate recognized by ielts.org, with minimum score of 5.5 (General Test), or 
    • ITB English Language Qualification (ELQ) test.
